MCP making its debut at OTC Houston 2014
Calm Ocean is pleased to present the Mono-Column Platform (MCP) design at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), Houston 2014.
The concept of producing in tandem with drilling from a jack up is the game-changer. Mr Brian Chang, owner of Calm Oceans Pte. Ltd. (“COPL”) has this to say, “The MCP is designed to monetize oil reserve in water depth of less than 500 ft. as early as possible.”
MCP has a large deck space and may be used in several configurations. As a drilling and production unit, the MCP can produce oil or gas right after successful drilling of the well. As a well-head platform, the MCP is able to accommodate more than 12 wells. The MCP is suitable for marginal fields, matured brown fields or large new fields. Setting up and decommissioning at site is a matter of a few days of work without the need for a construction vessel. The MCP design is wholly owned by COPL. The first of the series of MCPs, Calm Ocean 101 (CO-101) is presently being built on speculation. Scheduled for delivery in late 2014, the CO-101 is available for charter for a variety of uses. Apart from drilling and production or as a well-head platform, the MCP can also be used as a production or an accommodation platform alone.
